A friend of mine has an unenhanced Apple IIe that is not working. All it does it give thick horizontal bars across the screen when it is turned on. Nothing on the keyboard works including the built-in diagnostics. We have removed ever peripheral card including the disk drive to no avail. My question is what chip(s) could possibly be bad? I could swap chips with my IIe to find out which chip is bad but I would like some kind of starting point instead of going in blind. It would be easier to trace the problem if I had a schematic but unfortunately Apple doesn't sell one. Please respond to me directly as I don't always get to read the list right away.
