[comp.sys.apple] Lazer 128 and Color Printer Inquiry

I am looking to buy an Apple or Apple-clone system for the primary
purpose of being able to have on hand at home the ability to run
the same 'educational' software for my kids that they use in the
schools. Also, just to have fun and have them learn about computing,
etc.

I am thinking of purchasing an Lazer 128EX rather than a IIe
because of cost. Are there any gotcha's by going this route? Is any
thing significant not going to work? Are there experiences of poor
reliability, etc?

Another problem - The Lazer seems to be reasonably priced for the
functionality, and I can shop around for RGB CGA Monitors, but I can't
find a clone for the Imagewriter II (at about $500). Is there
one that does color? I know there is a new Lazer 190 for B&W. A
related question, is - Is there enuf software out there for the 128EX
that prints to the Imagewriter II (or whatever) in color to make it
worthwhile spending more for the printer than for the computer? I want
to utilize as much of the colorful graphics/imagery power of the computer
as possible to maintain the interest level and make it more fun to use
but maybe this isn't realistic.

Any help appreciated.

I recommend you forget the color. At least for printout, that's unlikely to
be a major factor is their interest/lack of interest. They probably don't
do much color print out in shcool, or certainly won't as time goes on.
