Good news campers (especially those on BITNET).
I got a reply from Scott Lindsey (thank you Scott) AND
username%claris.com@Apple.COM (as in 'scott%claris.COM@Apple.COM) is
both a simple address and one which BITNET's SMTP gateways understand.
It's also generally faster and certainly more reliable (in the sense
that if you misspell a name or something else goes wrong, you'll be
alerted by a bounced mail message) than the UUCP route.
As mentioned earlier, user@Apple.COM works for friends like Mark Johnson
who are at Apple.
