There has been I believe two attempts at making networks work with GBBS. One was actually quite good, it worked from the mail exchange protocol "MDSS" but he chose to make it specific to GBBS and required that you call HIS board and get a password and set up from HIS system. Needless to say it didn't work out. There was a test network running off of Lance's system for awhile I hear. ProTalk which was written by Parik Rao was written from the start to support networking at one stage. He never finished the code and passed it on to me last August. I have since then researched the best method to go about things. Firstly - We mind as well take advantage of the already huge and established network set up by the beloved Morgan Davis and his ProLINE software. He developed the MDSS protocol which can be easily implemented into a ACOS based setup. All the standards for parsing and connections are set down and I mind as well follow those and link right in to the proline network. That is what I have done. I still have to do a bit of testing at the moment but I believe it will work. I have only to overcome two-three problems 1) When reading in a text file with ACOS, I need to modify some lines then write them back out, I might need to modify a line that is stored in the editor. I can't figure out a way to do this. If you know of a way, contact me. 2) Dialing out, this is ridicoulous with ACOS, but I have found a solution and will work with that. 3) Copying stuff into the message base. Each system is customized in the way they work the message systems, message formats are all bizzare but i will just distribute the code for basic GBBS message boards that require the boards name to be a specific name. If you would like some more information, or would like to test this thing with me, or would like to help me finish it! Contact me!
