[comp.sys.apple] Extended Command Processor 8 goes Freeware

delton@pro-carolina.cts.com (Don Elton) (01/20/89)

I am changing ECP8, Extended Command Processor 8 from a shareware product into
a freeware product. This means that while I'll accept money for it, I won't
require payment for use of the program though I'll retain all commercial
rights to the software... i.e. you can't sell it or derivative works etc
without my written permission.

I've also updated the package a little by removing all of the communications
related stuff from the program. I did this to save on space but mainly to
save on complexity for other folks who try to interpret the code.

Which leads to the fact that I'm also releasing the source code to the program
under the same stipulations copyright-wise as above. I'll be posting the
package as several BQY files for easier digestion.

ECP8.BQY contains the stuff, minus ProDOS etc from the system disk
                I ship ECP8 with.

ECP8DOC.BQY contains the full user and technical documentation. You
should get this file if you get the source as the tech
docs would be real helpful at understanding how the
                program works

ECP8SRC.BQY the complete ORCA/M source and macros for the program (won't
fit on a single 5.25 drive so if that's all you have you might
want to make another arrangement to get this)

ECP8FIL.BQY some extra external commands for ECP8.

I'll also see if I can dig up the source code to most of these external
commands as well as some might be interested in playing with them.

I expect I'll have these on my own BBS (see my .sig line below) and will
probably upload them to Compuserve and maybe GEnie as well. You're free to
upload them anywhere you want as well.

I imagine that some folks will modify the code to suit themselves and given
that I wrote this thing back in 1984 I'm sure there's plenty of room for
improvement. Hopefully some of you will find the source educational though.

I don't know how to use the APPLE2-L stuff so if someone who does would like
to post the stuff there then have at it.
