My hard disk was backed up with 56 floppies using Apples Backup II program, v1.1.1. During restore by pathname the first 28 floppies worked fine, and the 29th one gave an error (very fatal error) that said the DATE AND TIME STAMPS DON'T MATCH, HIT ESC TO CONTINUE. This just takes you back to the menu and does not let you continue. The backup was made on an APPLE II+ with a 20 megabyte sider formatted in all PRODOS. Since there is no clock, the time is set manually when the computer is turned on. The backup was made at one setting and there is no cause that I can see for the error. When trying to restore any file that is after the 28th floppy, the same error occurrs. Somone has also suggested that Backup II fails when a backup is made across midnight and the date changes. It is possible that this occurred if it was made on the IIe instead of the II+ and I am really not sure which was used. I have found a matching code on Track 00 Sector 13 starting at byte 20 that is 15 bytes long and seems to match on all disks. Track 00 Sector 11 seems to have the backup.volume number. But have been unable to find out what the program actually finds that doesn't match. The data is quite valuable to me, and I can see from a track and sector scan, that it is there intact, but I would sincerely appreciate any assistance in patching the program to ignore errors so I can restore the data or what to patch on the disks to eliminate the error. I also have a IIe, but the same problem occurrs on restore. I guess another approach would be to locate a program that can restore the BACKUP II format, if that is possible. ------------ pro-sat ------------ satellite television bbs ----------- ARPA: crash!pro-sat!wen@nosc.mil UUCP: crash!pro-sat!wen Pro-sat BBS (619)697-0261 login=register (1200 baud) satellite/tv conf
