Can someone explain this to me. All along I have been getting this line about how Apple's Prodos <-> DOS 3.3 conversion routines don't handle text files. None of them (note that Apple has produced at LEAST 3-4 different programs to do this!). Yet, when I DO do the conversion, the files that arrive there DO exec! If the text characters are mangled, how could the exec be creating the first 2 of the drivers? That doesnt sound like bad text file transfer to ME. Lastly, I just tried the most common advice - run kermit under dos to download the files. I have spend 2 hrs attempting different ways to download to my GS. But each time when I try to exec the files, I get a syntax error immediately (as opposed to after things get started). When I do a mon i,o and then exec, it appears that the carriage returns didnt get translated to carriage return line feed - EVEN THOUGH I HAD THAT OPTION TURNED ON! I am using a IIgs and Kermit384 to download from a Unix system. The unix system is using the latest version of c-kermit. Anyone know if I need some special flag on the Unix side to get this to work? Thanks - what a revolting morning... -- Larry W.
