Bcc: Most of us by now have probably hear mention Diversi-Tune by Bill Basham. Well I received my copy of both it and SONG DISK #101 today and let me say it's worth every cent of the $55 dollars Bill is asking. If you a Jazz lover like my self the $25 for the song disk, which is the Nathen Page concert at Boston Apple Fest is great. I have an old TUBE TYPE amp hooked up to a superonic card on my GS and I never heard it sound so good. Bill is also offering 5 other song disks at 15 dollars each. The disk as received is version 0.02 and Bill says he will be sending out an update to 1.0 in a few months. I don't know right now if I'll be hooking up a midi interface but from what I can hear I've got a GS that compares with my CD on my Sterio System so I'll listen to my GS when I'm not using it for other things. Diversi-Tune sounds interesting Grant. Is it shareware like the rest of the Diversi software? If so can you post it? and will it be of use to anyone without special MIDI hardware, stereo cards, etc. I, for one, would appreciate it if you could give us a little more information about this product, maybe a personal review. It really does sound interesting, Grant. Thanx in advance for any further help. ============================================================================== ARPA: aehl@csd4.milw.wisc.edu USMAIL: Donald Aehl 3048 N. Unfortunately DIVERSI-Tune is not shareware infact it is supposed to reach the stores at $75 vs 55 direct. Hardware is not required to play music but to record an APPLE or Opcode Studio Plus 2 MIDI is required . Both of these are designed to operate off the modem port though it does support the card types such a passport and others that were designed for the //e. You can use two interfaces with this program on on each of the modem and printer ports. A sterio card is recommended but not required and its really a waste without one. The program works much like a tape recorder with the arrow keys or top 4 keys on the keypad as control including Fast forward with the music playing. You can add word to the songs with a little bounceing ball just like the Saturday shows I remember as a kid, there I go shoeing my age again, in addition you get a keybord on the screen with or with out a player piano like graphics to look at as the music goes by. Recording is 32 track so you have quite a bit of freedom to do editing over recording deleting single notes punching in and other features. I'm no expert on midi but am quite satisfied with the investment. If your not sure SEND $2 ($5 foreign or phone order) to BILL BASHAM and he'll send you a demo. One final note Bill suggests that you take your words and music and create a sing along VIDEO with a VCR just the thing to liven up a Saturday Night. Grant

I currently own the most up-to-date version of Diversi-Tune. (Version 1.0). I DO think it is an amazing program. If you haven't seen the MIDI functions well: 32 track recorder MIDI input assigner (supports splits) MIDI output assigner Piano, Banjo, Organ, String sounds. Some sound better than others but if you have it running through a good stereo you'd be impressed. Not to mention it has a prett complete drum kit. Bill Basham releases more instruments with each release and they better and better. This is even though he hasn't completed his instrument definition module. (it will be able to graphically display YOUR sample and do a foriet (sp?) transformation is less than 1/2 second. Those are his words). I can't list all the features here but I would suggest you get a copy of the documentation (it is on the disk itself) and take a look at it. IT has come quite far since the beta version. Oh, and by the way. You can use a remote keyboard with Diversi-Tune. Diversi Tune will produce all the sounds while you play. And believe me. the program is capable of handling just about any MIDI load. IT is the single fastest 16 bit program I have seen for the GS. I was not able to find any problems when I threw everything I had at it (I tested it by hooking it up to an Atari ST and it took everything the ST could dish out.) enough of me Collin
