I just purchased a mouse for my laser 128 and I would like some information
about the Baudville program 816 paint. Any opinions or comments are
welcome.

Information about any other 8bit Double Hires paint/drawing programs
is also appreciated.

Well, I think it is an EXCELLENT product. It is in my opinion
superior to all of the other paint programs for the ][ line.
In the hi-res mode you still have all of the same tools and (most)
functions as all of the other video modes. A nice feature is the
ability to use GS fonts in EVERY version of 816 paint. Now, for the
super hires mode, some may say it doesn't compare to paintworks gold
or Deluxepaint II. I disagree. Although these programs add "3d"
drawing tools, they are limiting. If you can't draw perspective on
paper, doing real drawing on a computer isn't possible. The only
feature I wish that it would have that the others have would be brush
modes. Smearing, fading, and smoothing are really great features.

However, if your only going to use hires and double hires modes, it is
my opinion that this is an excellent product. (I still believe a
truly good hires paint program has been made, but this one is good)

I am in no way related, tied, affiliated, to Baudville. (This is the
only product that they make that I like; disclaimer enough)
