Now, I dont want any flames. I KNOW what group I am in - I am purposely NOT posting this to that OTHER group. There ARE a few folks like me out there who have this deep envy / thirst to have a Mac. For those folks, and those loyal applists out there - here is a tidbet (Murphy - are you listening?). Apple is going to make Yet Another Mac CPU Announcement next Thursday (Feb 9). I just got the scoop in the applelink newsletter. Scully is going online to make the announcement. I presume that this is that Mac that was shown last week at the German computer show. The applelink is making it sound like some great first revalation - perhaps I am wrong. If it IS the previously previewed German machine I am going to be disappointed - why 'announce' something that has already been announced? Anyways - no indication that anything for the II line will be announced before May first weekend... -- Larry W. You mentioned that the new Apple II cpu is going to be introduced the first week of May. Do you have any rumors of what it might be? Could it possibly be that "gs plus" that was rumored to come out in september but never made it? the one with the onboard SCSI interface, improved SHR (640x400 with more colors per screen), more main and sound memory with empty sockets for even more sound memory, and above all a faster speed (I think 7-8 mhz)? I sure hope so!!!

>You mentioned that the new Apple II cpu is going to be introduced the first Who "You?" -- try to remember that readers of this list number more than 1,000 and contributors maybe 100 or so. As I recall, Larry Virden said something about an "Apple II announcement" in May (SF Applefest?). New CPU? If you hold your breath you'll turn blue. >week of May. Do you have any rumors of what it might be? Could it possibly >be that "gs plus" that was rumored to come out in september but never made Somebody on a bbs somewhere decided it would be fun to say a new Apple IIgs+ would arrive last September and LOTS of people believed it. That NEVER was a serious rumor after John Sculley's famous "18 months" remark (which *implies* Sep '89). >it? the one with the onboard SCSI interface, improved SHR (640x400 with >more colors per screen), more main and sound memory with empty sockets for >even more sound memory, and above all a faster speed (I think 7-8 mhz)? There NEVER has been a substantiated rumor about actual features (faster clock rate certainly, but the other stuff is pure smoke -- something like some of that stuff may happen, but it'll be coincidence). What I really said was: Anyways - no indication that anything for the II line will be announced before May first weekend... Which is NOT saying that there would be a new II cpu announced at all - just that I have seen no indications in ALPE or elsewhere that any new Apple II products will be introduced before Applefest. P.S. tonite is the nite that ALPE claims that John Sculley will announce a new Mac product/cpu - I forget which word was used. -- Larry W.
