------- Hundreds of thousands of words have been written on this group re: the possible discontinuance of the Apple II line by Apple Computer, Inc. I personally would not be surprised if it happened tomorrow, but would be equally unsurprised if the line continued for five more years (which I hope happens). But let's ask ourselves what would be the result of a discontinuance of the Apple II in terms of production? Last time I looked, people were still selling software and peripherals for the TI 99/4A, and that was killed off about five years ago, and was nowhere near the success that the Apple II has been. I think a thriving support industry would remain. Admittedly, major software development might be difficult to justify. If Apple does decide to pull the plug (are you Apple guys reading this?), I hope they make every effort to provide technical information to the companies that would very likely want to continue supporting the II's.
