One other news item I've seen in inCider is that Byteworks has a version
of C (ORCA/C) due for release in the near future. I believe (but am not
sure) that is is gs specific. Other info is appreciated.

The pd version of Hyper C is around 70% ANSI compatible-> because it
is pd, av they have purposely made some changes to the standard...
however these changes are only cosmetic and if you have the manual (by
sending in th $49.95 shareware fee) you can convert them back to normal
ANSI viadefines. It also includes a full editor (a VERY good copy of
the apple Pascal editor, but a bit faster) and complete source code to
the operating system (you could modify it to be compatible with ProDOS
or Pascal etc..)
The commercial versions (DOS/ProDOS) are 100% ANSI (more or less) and
are very nice (read fast)
Manx Aztec C, while probably the most standard of the bunch is very
slow and cumbersome to use, the shell seems to have to be loaded back in
after every command... it is also a bit expensive for my tastes ($299
for ProDOS, $199 for DOS and a VERY slow interpreted Prodos for $19.00
<-not bad price if you just want to try it out...)
One last thought about the PD Hyper C, it only supports 5.25 devices
and works best with 2 or more drives...

I'd suree like that Shareware C compiler! I'd appreciate it no end if
you'd upload it some day and drop me a note
when you've done so.

Thanks,

I've already sent it off to Paul Nakada, so it should be up very soon..
there are 4 parts and you need DDD or PBH to unpack the resulting file

it should be coming soon.. i have to convert it to 4 bit packing,
though... It came to me in six bit packing, so it'll take a day or two
to convert it.. it's on its way...
