[comp.sys.apple] Apple IIe interfaces

ROBRICK@ERENJ.BITNET (Robert Brickman) (02/15/89)

If anyone has the documentation foran Apple Super Serial card
handy, can you tell me what each of the DIP switch settings
mean, especially those regarding the handling of interupts.

Also if anyone is familiar with the Grappler printer interface,
what is the command set to dump graphics page 1?

     Thanks in advance,
     Bob Brickman ROBRICK@ERENJ (Bitnet)

The handy-dandy ref card in the back of the manual is BIG and chock
full of info. To use the card in communications mode, turn SW1-5,6 ON.
Once in Comm mode, then:
SW1-7 controls RS-232-C signals.
SW2-6 controls interrupts
SW1-1 to SW1-4 control baud rate (most comm progs override this setting, tho)
SW2-1,2 control data fromat (# bits/char, # stop bits - usually overridden)
SW2-3,4 control parity (usually overridden)
SW2-5 controls whether to send a LF after CR

Alot of the other functions of the card are controlled strictly by software.

To turn on printer mode, SW1-5 OFF and SW1-6 ON. Once in printer mode:
SW1-5,6 ON OFF for SIC P8 emulation (don't know what that means)
SW1-5,6 OFF OFF for SIC P8A emulation (ditto)
SW1-7,2-7 ON OFF for normal clear to send
SW1-7,2-7 OFF ON for secondary CTS
SW2-1 ON for 8 data,1 stop; OFF for 8 data 2 stop
SW2-3,4 control line width/video: ON ON for 40/video on
				  ON OFF for 72/off
				  OFF ON for 80/off
				  OFF OFF for 132/off
SW2-2 OFF for no delay after a CR, ON for 32ms delay after CR
other switches are the same as comm mode

Hope that helps
