I'd just like to throw in a comment about Steve Schneider's despise for the Apple ][+. The only thing that makes the ][+ so obsolete is thinking like his. I am a PROUD owner of an Apple ][+, as well as an Apple //e (yes, it is enhanced) and a //c. I do think that programs should be written to take full advantage of the current computer model's capabilities, but if it doesn't then there's no reason for not supporting older Apple models. Users of ][+'s (or even ]['s or "Black Apples" by Bell & Howell) are still APPLE USERS. Software should accomodate as many Apple users as is reasonable. Supporting a 10 yr old machine is not what I call "reasonable". One is forced either to limit what the version for new machines does, or to make a totally separate version for old ones. jawaid bazyar jb10320@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu "I sold my //e"

Shrinkit is striving to become the new compaction standard in the APPLE II arena. There are still some people out there with Apple II's, II+'s, unenhanced //e's, Franklin Ace 1000's, 1200's, etc... When a program is striving to become a standard, it is hard to do so if it doesn't support all the STANDARD machines in it's genre. DDD Deluxe works fine on all machines, so it for the most part is the standard. BLU is another standard because non //e/c/gs users can use Elton's Squeeze and archiving programs to do the job. I think that is the main reason Shrinkit has not caught on around some of the local bbs's I'm on is because a lot of people only have II's, and keep asking people with enhanced computers to D/L something then unpack it, re-pack it with DDD Deluxe and re-upload it.
