[comp.sys.apple] It'd also be nice...

A "wish list" for enhancements to new and budding software is always nice as
it allows the software author to write the code in the best interests of all
the first time instead of having to rewrite code to accomodate it at a later
date.

RE: ShrinkIt

I have found Andy to be most willing to listen to changes and enhancements to
ShrinkIt and considering the fact that he has so little time to work on the
code (what with trying to learn a college education) I believe he does quite
well.

RE: BLU compatibilty

I have no idea what-so-ever if the code can be compatible with both formats in
the amount of space he has to work with and the speed he is attempting with
the compression/packing routines. It WOULD be nice if not only could ShrinkIt
unpack BNY/BQY files but had a routine to convert BNY/BQY to SHK format on the
fly. (Or a seperate program/utility to only do just that. If it worked in both
directions, that would be even better!) Bottom line is that users want to use
the fastest utility (time-wise) in working -with- the original files as they
can save time both offline as well as online. I too would like to see a
BLU/SHK program that both authors could/would support. Realistically speaking
though, since Floyd's program is the defacto "standard" in the Apple community
he has no reason to support anyone trying to topple him off the hill. (This
does not mean that he =WON'T= and I have no idea if he will but he doesn't
"have to do so".)

As more and more end-users try both systems (BLU and SHK) perhaps popular
support of the end-user will dictate which if not both systems survive. As a
satisfied user of BLU over the years and an excited user of the NEW ShrinkIt I
hope only for the best of both worlds.
