Jeremy mereness said about disk alignment: >The troubles I have been having with my Unidisk now seem to be isolated to >my particular unit. Prodos 8 works fine, but games like Alien Mind crash >within 2 seconds, the disk drive halting and then mindlessly polling itself >until I restart the system. Other things fail, too, like GS/OS when any >kind of disk swapping is required. I still use a scope and a dysan alignment disk for doing all my drives. I know when I was doing alignments at a apple dealership we had a program(written in forth by the way!) that would check if the disks were at the correct speed, and if they were aligned. I started working on writting an alignment program a long time ago, but other things got in the way. I just wondered if anyone has used any of the "software" alignment programs for the apple, and if they are really fast enough to do an alignment. Dysan? has the disk interegator?, for ibms, but a scope still gives the best(fastest) changes in the drive when aligning them. Anyone use software to align drives? If so, how well are they working?
