[comp.sys.apple] Confusion 'mongst the masses....

RE: SCSI explanation / difference between Apple and CMS

Several people thought I was offering an explanation when in fact I'm looking
for additional information.

"I thought" with a SCSI interface I could hook up all types of SCSI devices to
my Apple//e.. (like tape back up, additional hard drives, etc... ) Afterall,
my CMS manual says I can set 7 device numbers. Now I'm finding out, unless I
misunderstood, I can't have more than 2 devices or 64 megs online from a
single CMS SCSI interface card/slot. All of this is quite confusing to myself
and others. Does the Apple SCSI card allow more devices? Once again... anyone
want to write a short (not too short) explanation of what one can do with one
slot, one SCSI card and one Apple //e... <and no nasty remarks please> There's
certainly no shortage of opinion and/or expertise here on InfoApple so how's
about one of you gurus taking a shot at it??

Thanks in adavnce

You're not the only one. Seems to me I heard on the net that Apple's SCSI
wasn't completely kosher. Then I also heard that CMS doesn't follow SCSI
true to form either.

Can somebody clear this confusion *UP* ? Thank you very much...
