I've heard that lots of people can't find good games for the Apple //GS.
I wanted to take the time to plug a couple of games that I have enjoyed
a lot:
If you're looking for a great 2-player game, 4th & Inches by Accolade is
an excellent choice. I've been playing this game every other day for
over a month and it's still fun! I don't know how it would be just as a
one player game though. Half the fun is having a human to outsmart. The
computer is a conservative player. One problem with the //GS that this
game brings out is that you can only hook up one joystick to the //GS
(at least that's all this game will accept) If the //GS wants to become a
good game machine, it needs to have 2 joystick inputs. The mouse just isn't
the same with this game (though with practice it can be used).
A good one-player game is Pirates! by Microprose. If you ever thought about
being a pirate, this is the game to get. It's fun, but it takes a long time
to play. It does let you save your game and continue it later (which you
must do if you want to get anywhere).
I have played a lot of other //GS games that weren't very good. Maybe the
reason some //GS games aren't selling very well is that they aren't very
good. I am unhappy that Infocom isn't planning to release Battletech for
the //GS though.
