While browsing through an archived conference on DiversiTune, fourier transforms were mentioned. Bill Basham said that he would take a sound sample, run it through a inverse fourier transform then run the result of that back through another fourier transform to get the sample "in phase". What does this mean? What kind of sources are people using for good clean, digitized sound effects? I am seeking a good, heavy machine gun sound, explosions, and so forth.
