I just recently bought two of those "Cruisin" anthologies (for 1965 and 1968) to get copies of "Ligthnin' Strikes" by Lou Christie and "Cry Like a Baby" by the Box Tops. The albums are marked "Original Artists", and they DO sound like the original artists, but they DON'T sound like the original recordings. Are these re-recordings? Alternate takes? I noted distinct differences in the mix AND in the playing itself on "Lightnin' Strikes", "She's Not There", and other cuts. Tell me I'm not dreaming... -- "You are not scream.
