Keywords: appreciation, wow! City: West Orange I've been listening to Synergy for years, ever since I mistakenly bought Chords. I thought it was progressive electronic rock. Well... not quite. I know of no Synergy songs with any lyrics, needless to say I was sort of shocked to hear my first totally instrumental, nearly 100% electronic (what is a guitar synthesizer?) album. I would have to disagree with R. Rosen on the comparison of Larry Fast to Rick Wakeman. They have totally different roots, different instruments, and except for a few tracks, very different sounds. I would liken the sounds of Synergy, foundly, to Jean Michel Jarre, and Vangelis. $10 to anyone who knows and can correctly spell Vangelis' last name without looking. Synergy discography: Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra Audion Sequencer Chords - available on clear vinyl Jupiter Threat - soundtrack Games plus backing electronics with P. Gabriel on various albums. Games, Chords, and Sequencer are most commercially available, usually as cutouts. Definitely go for them! There is usually an address for Fast's studios in West Orange, N.J. on the back of his albums, if someone is interested drop me a 'r' and I'll get back to you. I didn't mean to compare Wakeman and Fast stylistically (they are quite different), just meant to say that both of them seem to be better players and contributors to overall sound when playing in a group context (Wakeman with Yes, Fast with Peter Gabriel) then when they worked on their own. Just in case you were interested, some more info on Synergy. First, a complete discography (in order of release date) Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra (1974) Sequencer (1975) Cords (1977) Games (1980) Audion (1981) Computer Experiments, Volume 1 (1981) Semiconductor (1984) The dates are approximations from my not so reliable memory. It should be pointed out that Computer Experiments was not done by Larry Fast but by a program written by John Simonton of PAIA Electronics. The album cover had a neat touch with the assembly language listing on the back. Audion and Computer Experiments came out about the same time (1981) and then Fast went on tour with Peter Gabriel. To a Synergy fan like myself, this tour seemed to last forever. Semiconductor, the most recent release, is a two album set containing mostly tunes from the other albums. I think there are only about 3 new songs on the entire 2-record set. Another interesting note is that the first three albums were originally released on clear plastic. I don't know why they stopped doing this because my clear plastic albums have lasted longer than the regular black vinyl ones. dave bourne at siemens!bourne
