I just sent murph sewall a copy of ShrinkIt 1.1 to post to apple2-L, along with copies to any other people who requested it from me. v1.1 fixes the problem packing a dos 3.3 disk, and adds a few minor goodies. The stuff which has changed is mentioned in the documentation. Those of you who have access to AppleLink PE can find the ShrinkIt v1.1 in the utilities section under prodos 8 telecomunications utilities, and in the telecommunications forum library under processing utilities. ------------- Andy Nicholas CsNET: shrinkit@moravian.edu Box 435, Moravian College InterNET: shrinkit%moravian.edu@relay.cs.net Bethlehem, PA 18018 liberty!batman!shrinkit@sun.com uucp: rutgers!lafcol!lehi3b15!mc70!shrinkit AppleLink PE: ShrinkIt rutgers!liberty!batman!shrinkit Send replies to "shrinkit" because our mailer is case-sensitive!

ShrinkIt 1.1 should be available on apple2-L by now. I sent a copy to Murph Sewall, and he sent one to Chris... so it 'should' be there by now. You'll need a copy of BinSCII and BLU to extract the files. If someone will quickly explain the address to send something to the comp.apple.binaries (or whatever), I'll mail a copy there, os someone else can do it. (hey, we don't use the InterNET, and as far as I know, CsNET doesn't have a fileServer.. an info-server, yes... anyone else know?) Oh yeah, and a few of you folks have expressed concern that I released "oh so many versions of ShrinkIt" in 5 days (1.0 to 1.1) -- ShrinkIt 1.0 had a very bad bug which justifiably *HAD* to be fixed. I consider being able to correctly pack a disk (in 1.0) almost paramount to the algorithms working correctly. If this bothers you, well, tough. If the change in version numbers bothers you, I'm also one of those weird folks who likes to take it easy on everyone's psyche and not use double digit version numbers if at all possible. I hate having to remeber things like: Version 3.41... an extra digit is just something extra to remember... which is why ShrinkIt 1.0 "suddenly" jumped to 1.1 and not 1.01 -- I also try to add something for everything I fix so that there is at least some extra meaning to an update other than bug-fixes. andy ------------- Andy Nicholas CsNET: shrinkit@moravian.edu Box 435, Moravian College InterNET: shrinkit%moravian.edu@relay.cs.net Bethlehem, PA 18018 liberty!batman!shrinkit@sun.com uucp: rutgers!lafcol!lehi3b15!mc70!shrinkit AppleLink PE: ShrinkIt rutgers!liberty!batman!shrinkit Send replies to "shrinkit" as our mailer is case-sensitive.

Shrinkit >did not unsqueeze them, and I couldn't find any way to unsqueeze them at all. >I had to go back to BLU to get the files unsqueezed, and there it automaticall >recognized that there were squeezed files in the BNY file and unsqueezed them >on the fly. No muss, no fuss. ShrinkIT 1.1 will not automatically UNSQUEEZE records in a Binary II archive. It *WILL* extract the records from an archive, and then you can unsqueeze them from BLU or Don Elton's USQ utility. I and many others have tested this many times and as far as we know, it works fine... > David andy >-- >======== David Douthitt :::: Madison, WI :::: The Stainless Steel Rat ======== >FidoNet: 1:121/2 ::::: WittiNet: "Curiouser and curiouser, said Alice." :::::: >UseNet: ...{rutgers|ucbvax|harvard}!uwvax!astroatc!nicmad!madnix!rat >ArpaNet: madnix!rat@cs.wisc.edu {decvax|att}! ---- Andy Nicholas CsNET: shrinkit@moravian.edu Box 435, Moravian College InterNET: shrinkit%moravian.edu@relay.cs.net Bethlehem, PA 18018 liberty!batman!shrinkit@sun.com ---- UUCP: rutgers!lafcol!lehi3b15!mc70!shrinkit I have a CD player, send CD's. rutgers!liberty!batman!shrinkit I have a IIgs, send a GS+.
