A couple of thoughts have come up relating to history. The Mac research group in the days of Jobs was financially supported by sales of the Apple //. That managed to turn a rather pathetic machine into the Mac //x's of today. One reason for this is that staff of die-hards that supported it. How many people are now on the Apple // staff? as compared to Macintosh? I remember that things have gotten better, but at one point a year or so ago, the numbers of people staffing the Apple // line were abysmally small. So, what's happening today? If only six people are working on the // and all the development problems in one room with 5 macs and one gs, then no wonder nothing has come out for so long. jeremy mereness jm7e+@andrew.cmu.edu (arpa) r746jm7e@cmccvb (bitnet)
