I haven't seen it yet, but it does sound like a real turkey. However, it's not fair to blame it on inexperienced/untalented people when the creative people on the film include many veterans with good films to their credit (other than the cast; Ted Wass had a good debut in "Curse of the Pink Panther", but the rest are no-names). The script was written by the same guy who wrote the script for the first "Superman" movie (David Newman) and Lorenzo Semple, Jr., who has done a lot of stuff, including everyone's favorite execise in camp, the "Batman" TV series. John Guillermin, the director, has been directing action/adventure films for 35 years. His most notable success was "The Towering Inferno". His biggest previous failure was the 1976 "King Kong". The ads for "Sheena" don't carry any technical credits (a suspicious sign, especially in LA), but I expect that the cinematographer, editor, production designer, and so on, are all seasoned professionals. They usually are on this kind of disaster. I suspect "Sheena" is a good example of a bad idea which no one really liked, but someone thought could make a lot of money. -- Peter Reiher reiher@ucla-cs.arpa {...ihnp4,ucbvax,sdcrdcf}!ucla-cs!reiher
