Hello Apple ][gs users, I am having a problem trying to transfer some of the biniary postings I have collected from the NET to my friends Apple ][gs. I am familiar with IBM PCs and file transfer, but I can't seem to get a communications program to work on the ][gs. I sent away for a program called EVE via Shareware catalog, but I just get trash displayed on the screen when I put it into terminal mode. This happens wether I hook up my Hayes-Compatable modem or just leave the EIA connector open. We have the printer in Slot 1 and are trying to use Slot 2 for the modem. We have no special card in the ][gs (just as the printer) and cannot find anything about it in the manual. We did change Communications Port options in whatever they call the config screen, and the data (trash) being displayed did change. It doesn't look as if the data is comming from the EIA port, but rather from somewhere inside the computer. Is there a switch that needs to be flipped to look at an external modem? We also tried a "ftp" program from another Shareware disk, and got the same results. I'm sure it's not the software (it was for a ][e) but does anyone know where I can get a communications program for the ][gs that they KNOW works. I have the Kermit program for the ][gs that was posted in the binaries group a while back on both a UNIX(R) system and IBM PC disk, but that does me no good if I can't get the ][gs to capture a file. On the other hand, is anyone aware of a IBM PC utility that will write an APPLE disk??? Any and all help is appreciated! Mike -- Michael S.
