[comp.sys.apple] where'd info-apple go?

nicholaA@moravian.EDU (Andy Nicholas) (03/20/89)

For those who are interested, I'm on spring break right now and won't be
answering much of my mail until I get back... If you sent me a letter, expect
a response after 3/28/89. Thanks!

Also, I haven't gotten anything from info-apple in 5 days... is the newsfeed
still working or something else weird happening on my end?

ShrinkIT 2.0 should go to beta-testers this week. My original target date for
release was going to be this friday, but it looks like (for testing purposes
) that we aren't going to be able to meet it, so a good bet would be another
week delay or more. ShrinkIT 2.0 UnSQueezes Binary II SQueezed files (.BQY
files)... it's cool. ;)

Andy when ShrinkIt v2.0 is done could you post a copy on comp.binaries.apple2?

I can't send mail to the listserver, so i can't download anything from there.

I think ShrinkIT is a great program, probably the best packing program for the
apple //, keep up the great work.

Moravian.Edu is a CSNET site that doesn't have access to USENET
(comp.binaries.apple2). Andy sends ShrinkIT to APPLE2-L which sends it
to Paul Nakada (at Harvard) who BOTH archives it for ftp (and other ftp
sites) AND posts it to UUCP.

Assuming Andy, Chris, and Paul aren't distracted by such mundane activities
as making a living and surving exams, you'll see ShrinkIT 2.0 on UUCP
soon after (faster than Microsoft anyway :-) Andy releases it.

That's interesting -- I got 213 messages from info-apple and others in my
mailbox this morning. Amazing. Is this normal?

In case I forgot to post it before, ShrinkIT 2.0 only "features" 5 extra
things:

o Extraction and UnSQueezing from Binary II files is supported.

o Extraction and UnSQueezing from ACU files is supported.

o Enhanced handling of corrupted NuFX, Binary II, and ACU archives.

o Types the contents of WordPerfect ($A0) files without much mess
(thanks to DTS for publishing that technote this month and Matt Deatherage
    for writing it :-)

o Supports disk swapping for those who have single-drives.

ShrinkIT 2.0 should be available "around" April 1 (no, I won't release it on
April fools day, it's _just_ a target date -- and, no, that's not to imply
that I don't have any of this coded, either. It's sitting in front of me,
I'm just waiting for reports from beta-testers to come back :-).

If anyone is interested, I supposed to be a guest on GEnie in the a2 forums
section for an RTC on April 9. See you there! :-)
