[comp.sys.apple] emacs

STEIN@UCONNVM.BITNET (Alan Stein) (12/20/88)

I tried d/l'ing Emacs from Apple2-L but haven't been able to get it to
run. After combining the files and using BLU to extract Emacs (which
came out as EMACS.QQ), when I tried to run it from Orca/M's shell I got
a Prodos "Invalid file reference number" error message.
Also, the documentation files came out as garbage, unable to be loaded
into the Orca/M editor and undecipherable when loaded into Appleworks.
Could the fact that the bottom line of the source files I downloaded
was

---

have anything to do with it? Should that have been a blank line?

I've been unsuccessful in executing Emacs. I bombs before it finishes
loading under Orca/M's shell. Also, all the files in the documentation
(listed as SRC or TXT) seem to contain garbage when I try to look at
them directly and refuse to load into the Orca editor.
Has anyone gotten it to work under Orca/M?

shankar@bedrock.SRC.Honeywell.COM (Son of Knuth) (04/03/89)

A while back, somebody posted emacs to comp.binaries.apple2.
Some of the files did not make it here, so I was wondering if emacs
was archived anywhere? Or if somebody has it, can you please
E-mail me the program (either Binsci or Executioner is fine).
Thanks
