Great movie! This is a must-see-10-times one, to get all the benefit of the
dialogue.
It really reminds me of Doc Savage and his crew of top scientists roaming
around righting wrongs while solving the mysteries of science... but
updated to the 80's, mainly by diluting or removing Doc's intense
nationalism.
If you enjoy the cartoon "Far Side" you'll appreciate Buckaroo Banzai.
As an example of the kind of Far Side I mean, remember the one where
a panhandler is asking a lady: "Spare armadillo, Ma'am? Spare armadillo?"
and another guy is walking down the street with two armadilloes under his
arm saying to himself, "Oh, no, how am I going to get past this guy?"
The whole movie has this kind of flavor, but I won't spoil any of it...
