[comp.sys.apple] If you want Unix out of the box, why buy a GS?

If you just want to run Unix applications, or do multitasking, then do you
REALLY want a GS, even a faster one? Apple simply isn't going after
this market with the GS. If you want raw speed for many tasks, there
are other machines with more bang for the buck (typically PClones).

If you want Unix, you'll probably have trouble finding systems with more power
than a V7 clone, much less something commercially supported. I have trouble
imaging people wanting Unix with its traditionally impoverished user interface
on a whiz-bank graphically oriented machine.

Don't let me completely discourage you, though. If you already have a GS,
then go ahead and make the best of it.

I'm still trying to find time to port pieces of UZI and MINIX to my
//e system.
