Well this is a switch for me. Usually people come to me for help when their apple breaks (but that was back in the Apple ][ days when all you needed were a couple spare ics, unfortunately I don't have any spare GS custom VLSI chips :-( ). Anyway, I was using my machine when it froze up. I tried rebooting but it wouldn't go past the point of printing "Apple IIgs" on the top of the screen (I don't have the new rom [so shoot me], so nothing else normally gets displayed during the firmware bootstrap) and thats it. Won't boot any disks, or go into basic. I tried all the usuall (removed all cards and disconnected all peripherals, reseated all socketed chips) but still no luck. It won't let me into the control panel, but it will let me do the self test. The self test starts and then gives me the message "System bad" (gee, really?) and the error code is 01061600. I checked in my firmware and hardware reference and also in the technotes and couldn't find any references to what this error code means (Grrrrrr, what good is a self test if you don't know what the error codes mean?) Any ideas (before I take it to the dealer to have my mother board swapped $$$$$ :-( ), I'd at least like to know what the error code means. Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated.
