For generated (rather than loaded) drivers, I assume that interrupts are disabled for SmartPort devices that don't have the "interruptible" bit set in their status byte. Anyway, interrupts are NOT disabled around the entire call, the way they were in DOS 3.3. Try moving the mouse around during 5.25 access in the Finder under System Disk 4.0, and you'll see what I mean. BTW, my GS/OS Ref Vol 2 finally came yesterday (just after I packed almost all my empty binders). I only read the table of contents before packing it too, but it apparently gives some nice details about generated drivers. --David A.
