I have some questions about the Apple Imagewriter II. I am having problems in getting it to work consistently with my Lazer 128EX. With some Appleworks files, the buffer in the Imagewriter seems to overrun and the printout gets garbled. With others it doesn't. When the printer is reacting slow (lots of CR's or 2-pass colors) I see more problems. I am guessing about the buffer overrun. What I see would be consistent with a buffer size of about 1K or so. I am running 9600 baud and hw handshake set (as it came from the factory). The connector is wired per the IWII manual's suggestion. I also have some problems at 2400 baud with Appleworks, but it works a lot better. I'd rather solve the problem directly than keep slowing the baud rate down for the longer printouts. Questions: Should the IWII work (handshake) ok with the 128 EX? Has anyone else had any problems? What is the IWII's buffer size as it comes from the factory? (I asked 3 different local Apple distributors and got 0K, 8K, and 32K as answers.) Does the 128 have a hw handshake? Do I need to reconfigure the cable? Is buying the 32K option for the IWII the only way to "fix" this? Any help would be appreciated.
