[comp.sys.apple] The GS+.... WHY?

Re:The GS+.... WHY?:
Why in the world is Apple going to bother introducing the GS+ when it
appears that they are on the verge of dropping the ][ line and continuing
with the Macs? Doesn't make any sense to me... (although if what I've heard
about it is true, I'd like to have one anyway :-)

The answer should be simple...Given 2 seemingly irreconcilable situations, only
one of them can be true. John Sculley has announced a IIGS+. He has not
announced the Death of the Apple II. That would lead me to believe that these
stories on the discontinuation on the Apple II line are not based in fact and
is the scenario that must be discarded.

The //gs is a very important machine that fits into a nook that
needs to be filled. Many users, some of them students like myself, find the
//gs a good machine for word processing and games that combines features of
the Mac with the price of the cheaper //.
Apple is currently showing //gs sales in the 6 digit range, and
apple wouldn't want to loose this income. Could they really afford to loose
this market?
