I also question why MAC stuff is all of a sudden appearing on this newsgroup. Aren't the MAC people satisfied with their own group? Sounds like the same situation as at recent Applefest, with some Mac people showing up at what was previously a Apple II festival/exhibit. As Tom Weishire said in A2-Central (open-apple) last month "Looks like the MAC people are p*ss*ng in the Apple II punchbowl again!" From my own personal experience, it's hard keeping up with all the messages on this newsfeed without having to go thru a bunch of messages that I have absolutely no interest in. proline: pro-novapple!daveharv uucp: crash!pro-novapple!daveharv arpa: crash!pro-novapple!daveharv@nosc.mil Internet: daveharv@pro-novapple.cts.com Northern Virginia Apple Users Group >pro-novapple< 703-671-0416/300-2400 baud

Maybe if we cross-post everything about GS/OS to comp.sys.mac for a few
days, they'll get the idea? -- i.e., edit the newsgroup lines!

I also question why MAC stuff is all of a sudden appearing on this newsgroup. Aren't the MAC people satisfied with their own group? Sounds like the same Listen. People have spent far space complaining about the Mac stuff than there was Mac stuff. Furthermore, most of the people you are complaining about will never have seen your complaints. Lots of people read this list in USENET news. In that system you can cross post messages to more than one newsgroup. In most news readers if you reply to a cross-posted message it gets cross-posted again. Someone posted to both groups. All you saw was the thing that came to info-apple. People on USENET responded to that message, their responses also came to info-apple (and gradually the topic changed of course, because by now we are seeing responses to responses). Eventually the cross-posting will die out and the problem will go away. However here on info-apple people will doubtlessly still be sending messages to the list (rather than the original message posters) complaining about it. Finito. -------

>...wouldn't cross posting of all sorts of >messages to info-mac have the effect of causing a flame-like war between the >lists? I'll back you 100% and send my share of messages if you think >it's the prudent thing to do. :) Oof -- gosh it's hard to be 'tongue-in-cheek' without 'body language' ;-) I don't mean to aggrevate the innocent on info-mac just because a few send shotgun replies without thinking. I wouldn't find it untoward for anyone inclined to do so to send everyone who posts one of those obviously for the mac-list replies an "innocent query" :-) saying "Didn't you mean to send this to info-mac???? (acting as if you're unaware of how many lists the comment has been cross-posted to already -- the LISTSERV on BITNET does remove the newsgroups line entirely, so we really can't tell wherelse USENET originated messages have been posted.
