I just saw "All of Me", "Until September", and "Places in the Heart". I'll talk about "Until September" --- you've undoubtedly seen reviews on reviews on reviews on... on the other two. "Until September" stars Karen Allen ("Animal House", "Raiders of the Lost Ark") and Thierry Lhermitte (a french actor, if I'm not mistaken, that I haven't seen before). It is Richard Marquand's first project since he directed "Return of the Jedi." *** SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER *** A cute, flighty American girl (she has "U.S.A." written all over her harmonica to her cowboy books and jean jacket) finds herself stranded in Paris. When she stays in a friend's apartment, the neighbor next door catches her attention. (Her first real statement to him? "You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen." (It's a shame he didn't comment on her freckles, but then again, she probably would have decked him.)) They fall madly in love. There's this little problem, though: he's married (you could see it coming). Happily married. (He wants to know why he can't have a mistress --- all french men, it seems, have a "wife" and a "lover".) It goes from there. The "falling madly in love" scenes are fine, Marquand does a good job of showing us their relationship. Only, you don't seem to get drawn in, as with "Body Heat" and the like. It's not as emotionally charged as I would have liked, and the camera angles seem a little to much like "neat USC projects" than commercial cinema. I would say that when this hits the $2 matinee', and when you want to see a mushy love story, see this. Jeff Bowles Lisle, IL
