Network Comment: to #3959 by pnet01!crash!mitvma.mit.edu!ST402281%BROWNVM.BITNET When I worked for National Instruments, "The Leaders in IEEE-488 Interfaces," the reason I was given for their lack of an Apple II interface was that Apple themselves made one and there's no reason for NI to compete against Apple. MAYBE Capital Equipment Corporation or IOTech make an Apple II bus-GPIB card. Check their ads in BYTE. If you want to roll your own, start with a NEC 7210. Don't use the TI9914. If you don't want to roll your own but can't find a card for the slot but you can find a serial interface, National Instruments makes a line of serial-GPIB converters (I wrote half the firmware for these: my babies!) that you can use, even a self-contained Z80 computer with FORTH (I did the interpreter all by my lonesome self) if you want extreme versatility. I know the serial-GPIB converters are about three times as expensive as a card that goes into a slot, but that may be your best bet. -Tex Arcana@Pro-Lep
