I went to the software exposition last weekend and have been meaning to
put something in here so here it is.

I was able to talk to some of the software companies that were not at Applefest
and ask them about IIGS titles. Cinemaware says that Rocket Ranger is set to
go next month with the 3 stooges to follow close behind. They told me that the
reason for the delay in releases is that they write the games for each machine
and do not just port the software...thus the graphics and code are re-done
for the GS and they said it will blow away what is on the Amiga now....(they
said this I didn't...we'll see). They said S.D.I. will not be done...no reason
given...but their other titles will be (such as TV sports football...Lord of
the rising sun etc....)

Microprose has no new GS translations planned for '89 but that does not mean
that they will not have any in the future........so they say.....

I then talked to Electronic Arts who released some nice simulation software
(Attack sub and a Tank simulator..to name two)....they do not plan these for
the IIGS...I talked to one of the designers (forget his name) about the lack
of simulations for the GS...he said it is a combination of a few factors....
slow processor speed...small user base...lack of confidence in the machine
from Apple (push for MAC) and it is more profitable to write a new IBM game
then port one for the Apple...he did say that more and more people approach
him at things like this and that if the desire for these are made known thru
mail or user groups or on-line services it may happen...he smiled when he
thought about how if they did this they would corner the IIGS simulation
market...may happen...

The last one I went to was Spectrum Holobyte...they said they did a port of
Falcon for the GS but it was trash...the machine was too slow for what they
do...they said they have heard conflicting stories from Apple about the GS...
one says that they are planning a GS+ (there it is again..:-) ) and another
is that Apple is dropping it... If the GS+ is true they said they would try
again with their simulations...

Well that's enough rambling for now....just thought you might be interested.....
