To some of you Apple IIGS hardware people out there:
It seems that I have worn out my mouse plug (frequent unplugging
and plugging in of the mouse of course) and the loose port is causing
problems. I don't know the exact reason, I expect that some kind of
short in the plug is causing it to generate so many interupts that the
computer goes into what I call "super slow mode" in which text output
slows to a trickle (like typing "speed = 50). It also messed up
graphic redraws. I can usually fix it by wiggling the mouse but it
gets really annoying. I called the local Apple dealer and they said
that it would cost around $95 to fix the port (probably a $4.00 part).
I opened up the keyboard and the mouse port look like a snap in part.
I want to get some advice before I try to fix it so any suggestions?
Collin
I do know one thing. When I do get it fixed, I am going to get an
extension cable and plug THAT in to the mouse port and plug the mouse
into that...
