[comp.sys.apple] laser & apple scsi

tomp@pro-party.cts.com (Tom Pierce) (06/06/89)

Will an Apple SCSI card work on a Laser? My Apple dealer "doesn't
know", and won't test it because something might get fried. He says he
checked A-link (dealer's edition) and he couldn't get an answer. His
"solution" is to buy the card & 'try' it, but if it doesn't work he won't take
the card back!! (they don't take hardware back!) Scott!?! Matt!?!

ps- apple wouldn't build a card that wouldn't work on a Laser on purpose,
would they??!?! isn't that the most probable reason if it doesn't
work??? isn't that a stupid way to try to sell a card?!?!

I have been using an Apple revision C SCSI card on my Laser 128EX for several
months now without any problems. You need to be careful though, it is easy to
knock the card out of the expansion slot. You could buy an expansion box, but
it is just as easy to knock the cable to the expansion box out of the slot. I
would recommend getting the expansion box, though, since it has its own power s
supply. The computer and the expansion box need to be turned on at *exactly*
the same time to avoid possible problems.
