Before I decide to attack the equipment with either a scope or an axe, I thought I'd see if someone on the net has an answer. I have a \\e (enhanced) with the SuperSerial card. I have a problem where, if using a modem program that uses interrupts for the increased speed capability, the modem program will drop into the monitor on the first recieved character (and I assume the first interrupt is the first character). I have had this happen with any comm program. The catch is, at one time, everything worked fine. With the same hardware and software. If I configure Ascii Express (one of the programs I tried) to run without interrupts, all is well, except for the obvious lack of speed. Apple diagnostics claim no problems when run on all the hardware, including the roms and the custom chips and memory. Something may not be getting tested, since, if the interrupt vectors are not being set right, that would cause the problem. Perhaps a banking softswitch for the rom holding some firmware? However, my 80 col display works fine. Yes, I already tried fresh copies of the software, and another SSC. The software does work on a \\c I borrowed, same disks and all. I have yet to borrow another \\e, but will, so I don't need that suggestion. But other helpful advice would be welcome. Perhaps I am just over- looking something obvious (we geniuses tend to do that, right folks?) Thanks for any hints in advance. Dick Mead <mead@hamal.usc.edu>
