I'm needing to purchase the Apple IIGS Technical Reference Manuals, and was wondering--about System Software 5.0, will there just be updates to the manuals or will there also be new reprints of the manuals? If so I'd probably want to wait until the new manuals come out. Thanks. Jeff Hartkopf Internet: hartkopf@tramp.Colorado.EDU

I heard (at AppleFest) that the updates for System Disk 5.0 woud include a) all the new stuff for 5.0, and b) all the old updates (the oned that APDA is distributing now). I also heard that there would be no new manuals published (no new hardback manuals, that is). So, unfortunately, it looks like you're going to have to buy the old manuals AND the new update. I think many of us would like to see an overall Toolbox Reference update or rewrite, bu developer's needs for timely documentation have to take priority over ou desires to have it all in two or three books. Network Comment: to #8482 by pnet01!crash!apple.com!mattd For now, I can live with a set of deltas for the updates to the toolbox, but please, Apple, don't go overboard on this like you've done with Inside Macintosh. It makes it too difficult to get anything done since you have to read five different manuals to pick up all the pertinent details for one problem. --Morgan Davis UUCP: crash!pnet01!pro-sol!mdavis ProLine: mdavis@pro-sol ARPA: crash!pnet01!pro-sol!mdavis@nosc.mil MCI Mail: 137-6036 INET: mdavis@pro-sol.cts.com ALPE|BIX: mdavis
