I'm asking for a friend of mine... He needs a halfway decent assembler in ProDOS... Money is a pretty big factor, shareware is preferred... ProDOS 8 is a must... The computer is an Apple //c with one internal 140K 5.25" Drive. The simpler the program the better, the user is only 14 years old and only starting with ProDOS but knows assembler 65C02 pretty good. Please send your answers directly to me, I'll post a quick analysis to the list afterwards. Thanks ahead of time, David William Wrage a.k.a. I have used the MicroSPARC (now MindCraft) assembler for quite some time now on my //c. It is relatively easy to use and I think it is currently $49.95. I also bought The Beginner's Guide to Assembly Language when I got the assembler because it had many exapmle programs. It not only helped me learn 6502/65C02 assembly, but also many of the pseudo-ops specific to this assembler. Both can be ordered through Nibble magazine. Since I got my //GS I have upgraded to the Merlin Pro 16 assembler. The packag e came with the Merlin 8 (ProDOS 8) assembler but I have not really looked at that too much. A friend of mine owns an apple ][, is about 14 years old and knows BASIC. He'd like to learn more about programming and is looking for a few good books and tips about programming on the apple ][. Any pointers? -- Thanks Ben Mejia HP Lake Stevens bam@hplsla
