Hello out there... Thank you to everyone who sent me suggestions on a type of Pascal for my gs... I just got TML, and love it. However, I have another question now... I own an old Taxan 210 color monitor that will support both composite and RGB color displays. I have been using it for years as a composite monitor and it works quite well... However, using a composite color screen on a GS trying to print out 80-column text is a nightmare...It's extremely difficult to read. Since I got my GS a couple of years ago I have been trying to get a cable or device that would let me hook my monitor to the back of my machine. However, the plug on the back of the monitor is a Toshiba standard RGB connection, an 8-pin plug that looks like this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 I have found cables that fit this jack, but they go to a DB-9 (9-pin) connector, which apparently is designed to go into an IBM. In ordinary circumstances I would just wire the pinouts according to the RGB output from my GS owner's manual. However, in the IBM and Toshiba standard RGB signals, the horizontal and vertical sync signals are on separate wires. The Apple II instead sends a signal called composite sync. My real problem is this: does anyone out there know if there is a way to connect these two devices? Is there any way to separate the composite sync into horizontal and vertical? Or am I just sh_t outta luck with an IBM monitor in an Apple II land... Help! I can't afford a new monitor! --- ! ! --- Disclaimer: ! at (Spam?) I'm a bonehead.
