[comp.sys.apple] Vanilla SCSI Tape Backup System

drken@pro-graphics.UUCP (Dr Ken) (07/08/89)

My online article on how to Build Your Own Vanilla SCSI Tape Backup System
is now available from The Washington Towne Crier BBS (201-689-3649). Now,
for the first time, you can assemble your own tape backup system for under
$500 (sans Apple SCSI Interface Card). The system uses a 3M tape unit and
DC2000 tapes ($15 each) providing 40 megs storage/tape. The online article
provides a list of hardware needed, cookbook directions for the assembly,
directions on the use of HDTAPE (the format, backup, restore software
authored by Tim Grams & now available), other miscellaneous information,
and a list of vendors (including prices, for comparison purposes ONLY).
And since First Class Peripherals withdrew their tape backup system from
the market, this is your ONLY alternative! Thankfully, its a far cheaper
alternative than FCP's was.

So when you're done here, give a call to WTC and grab the article. And
please read and honor the copyright information given at the end of the
article (your cooperation is appreciated and will allow me to continue to
provide vanilla alternatives to the high-priced peripherals of the Apple
// world!).
                Dr. Ken
