[comp.sys.apple] Homebrew SCSI Storage Devices

bobl@pro-graphics.UUCP (Bob Lindabury) (07/11/89)

Several people have asked for the articles I've mentioned on building your own
SCSI hard drives, tape drives and soon to be released removable cartridge
drives.

Don't fret, some of the file sends I've tried have bounced. Since I am not a
net wizard (yet), I am having some difficulty in deciphering the returns.
Most have been (Unknown User) returns. Maybe someone can help me with these.

If anyone is interested in the above mentioned articles, please do send me an
email request and I will again try to send the files to you. Please make sure
you provide a complete return path to your system from crash! so that I can
get the articles to you. Also, please be specific as to what information you
are interested in. If you have no intereste in tape drives, then I need not
send you the 40k file on them. B^)

I currently have an articles on:

        Drive Cases SCSI Notes
        Construction #1 Construction #2

Probably by the time you read this I will have an article on constructing your
own SCSI tape backup as well as where to get the drive software. I will be
working on the Removable Cartridge Drive instructions soon after that.

All of these projects are VERY easy to do and will save you tons of money.
The SCSI hard drive instructions use Seagate drives (1 year Seagate warranty)
and various cases. I use the Mac Crate case and it comes with a 2 year
warranty. So, if you are worried about warrantys, your worries are unfounded.
Most hard drive manufacturer's wouldn't give you that long of a warranty.

You do not HAVE to use Seagate drives however. So, if you are interested in
any articles, please send mail to the address below with your request.
