[comp.sys.apple] Datamac hard drive...

god3@sphinx.UChicago.UUCP (Peter Godwin) (01/16/87)

I just purchased a Datamac Trustor 10 Hard Drive for my Apple //e
system used, and have completely installed it with Prodos, Dos 3.3,
Pascal, and CP/M and it works perfectly.

However, I would like to know the current address and/or phone #
of Datamac so that if there have been software upgrades of the
current versions I have I could obtain them.

Does any one out there have such a drive also? I think
that it is internally the same as the Franklin hard drives.

I would also like to install such faster DOS's as Diversi Dos or
Pronto DOS on the Dos 3.3 portion of the Drive but would like
to know if it has already been done.,

Any information regarding this Hard Drive which may be helpful would
be appreciated, whether it relates to the above inquires or not.

Thanx

I just picked up a Datamac 10 meg hard drive. Upon installation, it comes
up with a NON MEDIA ERROR XX, which happens when it is trying to write the
paramater block onto the hard drive as the very last step in initializing
the drive. The manual isn't very comprehensive - it doesn't even mention
error codes.

However, things get interesting. When I installed a First Class 10 Meg sider
about two years ago, I got very familiar with the 'look & feel' of their
HD utilities. The Datamac utilities look like a previous version of these
utilities. IS DATAMAC A PREDICESOR (sp) OF FIRST CLASS PERIPHERALS???

Additionally, is there a workaround to the paramater block problem?

Help is appreciated...else we have a doorstop with a cord... (heavy doorstop)
