Yup you'd be re-inventing the wheel by doing a 68881 card. And probably about $50 more than you can buy the present one for.. What you are looking for is a FPE (Floating point engine). It is a 68881 running at 12MHz. It includes patches to SANE so that you can use it with all programs. And Byteworks supports it with their languages so that you can calle it directly.. Right now it costs $229 from the Byteworks. I forget if this is a special offer or not still.. The lowest cost I've seen on the 12mhz 68881 chips was around $199 for single ones the last time I checked, so it is a pretty good deal..
