In response to Steve Hare at Purdue.edu re: networking Apple II pluses from a
single hard drive: It CAN be done provided that you have a Corvus Mass
Storage System running Constellation II or Constellation III software. You
can network up to 64 machinces, but be forewarned that IT GOING TO BE
EXTREMELY SLOW.

My employer currently has AppleShare on a Mac IIX and about 15 nodes strung
off that server. The server includes shared applications, 2 LaserWriters, 2
NetModems, and intermail. The company that produced the InterMail software,
from what I understand, was recently purchased by MicroSoft. Does anybody
know whether there is a IIGS compatible version of InterMail software for a
IIGS node on AppleShare?

I couldn't get through to Don Elton directly, so I'm sending this
through the net.

If the Mac is on an Appleshare network (which requires a dedicated Mac
as a server), a IIGS is supposed to be able to connect to it and share
files through an Appletalk connector (the same as for a Mac) and cables
with System 5.0 when it's released. System 4.0 requires additional
software.
For occasional sharing of files, which is all I need, I've found that
Apple File Exchange combined with sneaker net is adequate.

Ok, thanks. That's they way I've been xferring stuff. Might be nice
sometimes to share resources between my single Mac and GS but looks like I'd
have to write my own interface software to do it via AppleTalk.
