A friend of mine decided to forego the fees for enhancing a IIe and did it himself. He seems to have been careful to ground himself before doing this. However, there seems to be some problem. The control key doesn't seem to generate contol codes in many cases. He can reboot with O-A control Reset, but many other control codes don't seem to work in the programs he's using. Can anyone think of what might have gone wrong? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vernon L. Network Comment: to #2433 by pnet01!crash!nyu.edu!phri!cooper!dasys1!vernonw I doubt that the lack of control-characters has much to do with the enhancement. The control-key switch goes into the KR3600 keyboard encoder. I suspect it might be loose or defective, or, the cable from the keyboard might be damaged. Possibly the keyboard mapping ROM (not part of the enhancement) has become loose or defective. First use a logic probe to determine if the control-signal is making it to the KR3600... then look at the data coming out of the KR3600 (eg. with an "A" and a control-"A"). If they differ, then the next thing is the ROM... Stephen Brown ProLINE: sb@pro-generic.cts.com
