I've heard rumors of release of System Disk v5.0 for July 1. Any one from Apple here won't tell you, because of Apple's non-discusion policy. It was truely amazing that they did announce SD5 before they had it ready. They also won't release what they have ready for tools for APW until they have them ready. But what they have stated is that for sure they will start off with the easy stuff to port to the IIGS. The rez and derez compiler/decompiler for resources. Obviously they have to have a new linker that can make resource fork code. (called LinkIIGS. Looks a lot like the Linked linker right now.. Don't know if they have a batch mode like the normal linker..) And of course they will have to offer new macro/header files for APW for the millions of new Toolbox calls that they have.. People from Apple (Dave Lyons) have mentioned that the documentation for this beast is well over 1,000 pages. That is going to take some printing from APDA before it becomes available for you and me. I'm sure that APDA will take advanced orders, the old one did under TechAlliance. Unfortunatly APDA doesn't even answer e-mail questions. You'll have to write, or wait for them 10-min or so on the phone.. PS. Hate this editor. Also new tools are the expressloader tool, that will take OMF files and make them 'expressloaded' for the truely awsome loading times. (Appleworks GS in 10 seconds on a hard drive..)
